Diablo 3, anuntat

Cei care au pariat pe Diablo 3, odata cu lansarea imaginii misterioase pe situl Blizzard, au castigat. Blizzard a anuntat ca lucreaza la jocul Diablo III, continuarea uneia dintre cele mai apreciate serii de jocuri action-RPG, in cadrul evenimentlui Worldwide Invitational care se desfasoara la Paris.
In cadrul conferintei de presa producatorii au preciazat ca jocul va fi produs pentru PC si Mac si ca "nu exista planuri" pentru versiuni de console. De asemenea, Blizzard a dat publicitatii mai multe screenshot-uri din joc, dar si doua trailere (cinematic si artwork high-resolution in sectiunea Download - Games) in care putem vedea o lume in ruina si armate care marsaluiesc prin campuri de foc...

Producatorii jocului promit ca Diablo 3 va fi la fel de simplu de jucat ca si predecesorul sau: "so simple that you can play it with just the mouse".
Povestea din Diablo III incepe la 20 de ani dupa evenimentele din Diablo II. Mephisto, Diablo si Baal au fost infranti, dar Worldstone-ul, care odata proteja locuitorii din Sanctuary atat de catre fortele High Heavens, cat si de cele ale Burning Hells a fost distrus. Acum forta Raului ameninta din nou Tristramul.

Jucatorii vor avea la dispozitie cinci clase de eroi si vor putea lupta pentru salvarea lumii de invazia hoardelor de demoni folosindu-se item-uri puternice, vraji si abilitati. Primele doua clase de eroi prezentate la Paris in cadrul Worldwide Invitational au fost barbarian si witch doctor.

Diablo III va dispune de un nou engine 3D, un sistem fizic avansat, care vor permite un nivel al detaliului foarte mare, dar si efecte speciale de top. Mediul inconjurator va fi interactiv si destructibil, si le va da batai de cap atat monstrilor, cat si jucatorilor din cauza obstacolelor si capcanelor pe care producatorii Diablo 3 le-au "plantat".

Diablo III va avea de un nou sistem de quest-uri, evenimente scriptate care se vor produce sporadic, dar si sistemul aleatoriu de generare a nivelurilor. Jocul va avea si mod cooperativ care va putea fi jucat online printr-o versiune imbunatatita a Battle.net. Diablo III se va lansa simultan pe PC si Macintosh.

Mike Morhaime, directorul executiv al Blizzard Entertainment a declarat: "dorim sa extindem povestea si elementele de gameplay din universul Diablo".

Nu a fost anuntatata o data de lansare pentru jocul Diablo III. In galeria foto veti gasi mai multe imagini din proaspat anuntatul Diablo 3.

Hellboy 2: Third Movie Trailer and Animated Prologue

Universal has released a third and final movie trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Like the recent television spot, the new trailer starts off with the origin story from the first film, before showing off all the cool creatues and baddies in the new film. They have also released the animated prologue which opens the film on Apple.com. As always, tell me what you think in the comments below!

Gears of War 2, imagini proaspete

Studiourile Epic Games au dat publicitatii cateva imagini noi din din shooterul Gears of War 2. Cliff Bleszinski, lead game designer la Epic Games a declarat in cadrul Game Developers Conference 2008 ca jocul destinat consolelor Xbox 360 se va lansa in noiembrie anul acesta.

Jocul va avea campanie single-player dar si mod multiplayer iar producatorii promit imbunatatirea gameplay-ului, noi arme si vehicule.

300 Prequel/Sequel Moving Forward

Earlier today, Peter reported on the race to the screen between two new Greek mythology epics inspired by 300. The flip side of this news is that both director Zack Snyder and 300 producers, Mark Canton and Gianni Nunnari (who are also producing one the aforementioned epics) confirmed to Collider at the Saturn Awards that a 300 sequel/prequel is finally bubbling.

“We’re working on sequel of 300, the prequel of 300,” said Nunnari. Canton chimed in with, “We’re looking to do another 300 and we’re looking for Frank Miller and Zack to do their thing. …Because we’ve had obviously around the world quite seriously such an amazing journey. It keeps on going. We’re talking about the genius of Frank Miller and Zack Snyder.”

In a separate interview, Snyder confirmed that if “something is cool” they’ll do it (isn’t this Hollywood’s MO right now?)…

“Yeah, I’ve talked to Frank a little bit about it, and he’s going to do something, I think he’s going to draw something. We’ll see what he does. If something’s cool we’ll make a movie out of it,” said Snyder.

There you have it! He’s going to draw something. For over a year, news about a follow-up to the game-changing green screen money maker has floated about the Net. Back in March ‘07, Miller was said to be prepping one, even. As for a storyline, nothing was offered up in these interviews. Previously some readers suggested that “a sequel could be made using 10,000: The Battle of Plataea or the naval Battle of Salamis.” Of note: Snyder is interested in returning, whereas some speculated that Miller—with The Spirit already campaigning hard in Geek Land—would helm.

Up next for Snyder after Watchmen is the animated owl fantasy, Guardians of Ga’Hoole. He also has The Tattooed Man on the burner. He is also quite flabbergasted that some people don’t “get” the commentary that is nippled regalia in Watchmen.

Discuss: Would you rather see a sequel, a prequel, see everyone involved simply stop with the original or see nothing at all (if the latter, don’t bum us out, thanks)?

Mexico’s Top Rambo Impersonator

Any would-be Sam Walton knows that Rambo remains America’s chief export. He is the vein-y cornerstone staying strong against today’s crashing waves of economic turmoil and disaster. VICE just released their Mexico Issue and contained therein are countless photos of Mexico City’s top Rambo impersonator. So successful was this guy at posing with babies, women in hot denim (with a leg up) and stunned kids (see the face above) that he reportedly made the jump to Universal Studios. Fame! If Stallone ever hangs up the bazooka and the head band, let’s hope that Holly/Bollywood puts up the funds for a Rambo 5 with this guy. For the sake of our grandchildren’s pain at the pump.

Tarsem Singh’s War of Gods vs. Louis Leterrier’s Clash of the Titans

Yesterday producers Mark Canton, Gianni Nunnari and Bernie Goldmann revealed to Collider that they had landed director Tarsem Singh (The Fall, The Cell) to helm War of Gods, a new Greek mythology epic which will be filmed like 300.

Relativity Media paid mid-six against seven figures for the script by Charley and Vlas Parlapanides. The official logline follows: “A purported bastard who retains an allegiance to his mother despite the fact that he longs to join the quest of a king who is battling demons in ancient Greece later embarks on a grail of discovery that has him finding he is the king’s son and also fated to become his country’s greatest hero as he leads the successful war against long-imprisoned Titans who are hoping to use the demons to restore their power.”

Warner Bros even toyed around with the idea of buying the Gods script (which is believed to be further developed) for their epic-style green screen remake of Clash of the Titans. The studio announced tonight that The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier has been hired to helm the Lawrence Kasdan-scripted remake. And now both studios are racing into production to be the first to the silver screen. War of Gods is scheduled to begin production by year’s end, and Titans was only greenlit after landing Leterrier.

Bolt Movie Trailer

Disney has released the trailer for Bolt. Does anyone else find it ironic that an Elvis Presley song is used in the trailer for a movie in which Lilo & Stitch director Chris Sanders was removed as director? I talked about the controversy behind this project last week, if you haven’t had a chance, check it out here.

I’ll admit that because of the backstory, it’s hard for me to be accept Disney’s reworking of Sander’s original designs. But aside from the groan inducing trick opening, the movie doest look all that bad. Sure, the characters and situations don’t look nearly as interesting or as original as Sander’s designs, but it also doesn’t look as generic as past Disney efforts. Plus releasing the film in 3D at least guarantees a fun theatrical experience. Could it be the John Lasseter effect? I’d be interested to hear the opinions of readers who didn’t feel an attachment to Sander’s American Dog concept art. What do you think?

More Transformers 2 Plot Details Emerge

Michael Bay revealed a couple new details in an interview with the New Jersey Times. The story picks up with Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox) visiting Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) at a fictional East Coast school with an Ivy League feel. Apparently Banes didn’t have enough money to go to college and was left behind in Los Angeles. And while the first movie was about a boy and his first car, Bay says that the new movie “is all about Sam growing up and going to college … a teenager growing into a man.” Rainn Wilson was spotted on set the same day that they were shooting a scene where Sam is late to his Astronomy 101 class, which might mean that Wilson is Witwicky’s Astronomy professor. Josh Duhamel who played Captain Lennox in the original film tells Empire Magazine that the biggest change in the sequel is “who [Lennox is] working with “, emphasizing the “Who he’s working with.” This seems to confirm speculation that the Autobots might have to form an alliance with the Decepticons to fight something bigger. Could those rumors about Fallen actually be true?

And for those wondering, the cool “Revenge is Coming… 2009” set-up pictured at the top of this post (thanks to KD), was on display at The My Little Pony Fair 2008 (who knew?), which took place at Hasbro, Inc.’s Providence, Rhode Island headquarters last week.

Death Race Movie Poster

Shock has a first look at the new Death Race movie poster which is now in theaters. Something about it just screams “shitty movie”. I’m surprised they didn’t try to play up the imagery of the custom killer cars instead of the generic floating heads.

Jason Statham leads the cast of an action-thriller set in the post-industrial wasteland of tomorrow, with the world’s most brutal sporting event as its backdrop. A penitentiary full of felons has inspired the jailers to create a grisly pastime ripe for lucrative kickbacks. Now, adrenalized inmates, a global audience hungry for televised violence and a spectacular arena come together to form the Death Race.

Three-time speedway champion Jensen Ames (Statham) is an expert at survival in the harsh landscape that has become our country. Just as he thinks he has turned his life around, the ex-con is framed for a gruesome murder he didn’t commit. Forced to don the mask of the mythical driver Frankenstein—a crowd favorite who seems impossible to kill—Ames is given an easy choice by Terminal Island’s warden (Joan Allen): suit up or rot away in a cell.

Kung Fu Panda Sequel

Kung Fu Panda was the first non-Pixar computer animated film that I really enjoyed. When I saw the film a few months back, I said to one of my friends “This is gonna be huge, lets hope they don’t f**k it up by making a sequel.” Well guess what… A story crew has already begun early work on a Sequel, according to a posting on the TAG Blog. The original film has garnered great reviews across the board and made over $229.7 million worldwide in its first 19 days of release.

Nokia cumpara Symbian

Speriati de iminentul success pe care-l va avea Google Android si de succesul pe care-l are Apple care au facut public un SDK pentru propriul sistem de operare mobil ( folosit in cazul iPhone), Nokia, cel mai mare producator de telefoane mobile a hotarat ca e cazul sa aibe un control mai direct asupra propriului sistem de operare folosit.

Prin urmare Google a cumparat compania britanica Symbian, si imediat a anuntat ca va face publice resursele acestui program, pentru ca producatori independenti sa poata crea programe compatibile cu acesta.
Deasemenea Nokia sunt direct interesati si pentru ca Symbian concureaza direct cu Windows Mobile si este interesant de stiut ca in timp ce Microsoft incaseaza pentru fiecare device cu Windows Mobile aproximativ 14 dolari, Symbian “cere” doar 4.10 dolari.
Ce este si mai interesant este ca inovatiile se vor tine lant, pentru ca in cursul lui 2009 producatori precum Nokia , Sony Ericsson, Motorola, LG, sau Samsung vor pune la randul lor umarul pentru crearea unei platforme Symbian care va profita de toate cunostintele lor acumulate pana acum, iar primul telefon pe "noua" platforma va aparea pe piata in cursul anului 2010.

Spielberg’s The 39 Clues

DreamWorks has acquired rights to The 39 Clues, Scholastic’s 10-book fantasy adventure series which will launch on September 9th 2008. Steven Spielberg is considering directing the project. Scholastic is hoping to replicate the success of the Harry Potter book series.

Benjamin Franklin, Mozart, Napoleon and Houdini are just some of the relatives of the most powerful family in the world - the Cahills. Grace, the Cahill clan matriarch is found dead just moments after she has changed her will, giving her descendants the choice between $1 million or a clue. Yes, one of 39 clues which reveal the source of the family’s powers. The series will follow two young Cahills, Amy, 14, and Dan, 11, who enter into a race against other branches of the family to be the first to find the 39 clues that will lead to ultimate power.

“The 39 Clues takes creative leaps to expand the story experience from the pages of the books to multiple stages of discovery and imagination,” Spielberg said in a statement.

The books will come out once every two or three months, released over the next two years, the multimedia adventure will include a set of collectible cards and an online game with a $10,000 grand prize. If Spielberg were to direct The 39 Clues, it would be after he finishes production on the TinTin series and his announced Abraham Lincoln biopic.

Early Review Compares The Dark Knight to Heat and Godfather 2

The Dark Knight will screen for select press later this week (we’ll be there), but a scooper over at AICN has already gotten a sneak peak. Tim Bisley compares the movie to The Godfather Part 2 and hints that Heath Ledger’s performance might be worthy of the best supporting Oscar. Here are a couple spoiler free highlights that I found interesting:

“The film feels more like a crime drama in a grand city scape than a typical comic book movie. It feels like Heat except Batman is Al Pacino and The Joker is Robert De Niro and just like in that film we have a great scene between Heath Ledger and Christian Bale across a table. There is also an element of a Greek Tragedy.. There is a vast sense of morality at play within the film.”

“The Joker is almost more of a terrorist than criminal. He is not motivated by money. He wants to see people suffer.”

“The run time is two and a half hours. It doesn’t feel that long as there is so much going on within the film.”

FUTURAMA: THE BEAST WITH A BILLION BACKS
Continuing its semi-return from the Fox cancellation grave yard, Futurama finally releases its second direct-to-DVD feature out of four with The Beast with a Billion Backs. It’s not nearly as dramatically compelling or well paced as Bender’s Big Score (that film was so good it had the potential to be made as a theatrical release), but it does up the ante on laughs, which is debatably something the former picture was lacking. Who really cares though? The important thing is that Futurama is back, and personally, I couldn’t be happier to see it return.

Notable Extras: Audio commentary from the cast and crew, ‘Futurama: The Lost Adventure’ (featuring the cut-scene footage from the Futurama video game), a joke interview with comedian David Cross, deleted scenes, a featurette detailing the history of the game Death Ball, and footage of voice recording outtakes.

IN BRUGES
This film marks one of those instances where the trailer prepares you for a movie so vastly different than the actual film that the film itself is harder to enjoy because of it. It’s still a solid movie though, so I’ll just warn you to avoid viewing it with the expectation of something Guy Ritchie or Tarantino-esque. Its witty and raunchy dialogue may come across as similar at times, but the movie is also very slowly paced, focusing heavily on existential and religious themes atop all the profane comedy. It’s definitely not your standard hitman film.
Blu-ray? No.
Notable Extras: Deleted and extended scenes, four featurettes, and a gag reel.

Starring Freddie Highmore and featuring plenty of fantastical creatures, this movie may seem like it’s simply treading the same water as Arthur and the Invisibles. However, this children’s adventure (based on the popular book series of the same name) has the heart and imagination lacking in that film, and succeeds much more admirably because of it.

PERSEPOLIS

Shot in black-and-white, the movie uses its inventive visuals as a way of setting the tone for the deeply compelling coming-of-age story ahead. The plot explores a young Iranian girl’s attempt at finding her place in the world during the Islamic Revolution.

CHARLIE BARTLETT
A mixed bag overall, Charlie Bartlett is an uneven yet oftentimes hilarious teen angst comedy about a wealthy teenager finding his place in the social hierarchy by becoming an unofficial school psychiatrist. It also stars Robert Downey Jr. in a supporting role, and as a rule I like to force myself to see every movie he’s in. Favoring a focus of style over substance (and logic for that matter), director Roland Emmerich’s epically stupid journey into the prehistoric era is both bland and frustrating to watch. Wanted Creator Mark Millar Confirms Sequel, Insults Wall-E

Twitter has been flush with positive, early endorsements, Slashfilm’s included, for Wanted, the R-rated bulletime fiesta opening this weekend based on Mark Millar’s lauded comic book miniseries. A veddy confident Millar has announced via his message board that the studio is already putting its sequelitis into action, and then he aimed his gold-plated Uzi at Wall-E…and fired!

“PS: Wanted 2 already being planned and they’ve asked me how I can develop some of the other stuff from the book into the sequel. We’ll see what box office is like at the weekend, but everyone knows this is going to make a LOT of dough. Wall-E permitting. Fucking bastard of a wee robot.”

Back in May, when it was far more iffy whether Wanted would rock the box office coffers, we reported that writers Derek Haas and Michael Brandt were already locked in to write Wanted 2 for Universal. The original currently has a 7.7 rating on IMDB after 1,000+ votes. A new R-rated comic book franchise that’s worth a damn, could it be?

Prison Break sezonul 4, in septembrie

Planurile pentru lansarea sezonului 4 al serialului Prison Break au fost schimbate de catre FOX. Premiera noului sezon a fost amanata cu o saptamana.

Data oficiala de lansare era 25 august. Astfel abia la 1 septembrie fanii serialului se vor reaintalni cu personajele preferate. FOX a anuntat ca primul episod va fi unul special si va dura doua ore.
